Top 13 New HBO Series

Greetings fellow series lovers, this is a list of the new HBO series that are scheduled to be released in 2015.

Part of the shows have already one season behind them, other are yet to be released.

It was really fun making this kind of list, I have a pretty good idea of the next big shows. Let’s start, shall we.

True Detective was created and written by Nic Pizzolatto. The show’s main cast include Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, so far there have been only 8 episode of this very well rated series. It was directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Rusty Cohle and Martin Hart are detectives, they are in a hunt for a serial killer for 17 years. 8 episodes of pure brilliance, the connection between these two actors was phenomenal.

The second seasons was confirmed to start airing this summer, the cast and location will be all new. You are only 8 episodes behind, catch up! I believe that this will be one of the best series in 2015 on HBO.

Leftovers is a new series created by the same guy that brought you Lost, and Tom Perrotta. The first season has finished, so far there are 10 episodes. The second season has been confirmed by HBO, Leftovers is based on the same named book by Tom Perrotta.

The show revolves around mysterious disappearances, it’s setting takes place three years after the horrific event. There is a mysterious group of people all dressed in white that everyone hates, dogs are acting strange, and a lot more things that seems improbable.

The show has received positive reviews so far, if you like mysteries and fantasy, then this one is for you. You will definitely see connection with Lost. I anxiously wait to see what will happen next, one the second season that is planed to be released next year on HBO.

Looking has 8 episodes behind it, the series was created by Michael Lannan. It started airing in January this year. The main cast is consisted of Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez, and Murray Bartlett.

It’s about three close friends from San Francisco. Their lives and relationships, the show has received generally positive reviews.

10 episodes were confirmed for the second season, it will start airing in 2015.

Sillicon Valley - imageSilicon Valley

Silicon Valley was created by the trio consisted of Mike Judge, Dave Krinsky, and John Altschuler. The first season was concluded on June 1, 2014.

The setting takes place in the 1980’s, an amazing algorithm was created and the fun starts. The owner of the algorithm is offered a lot of money, he declines and opens his own company, managing a company turned out to be far more difficult than he imagined.

It’s an awesome technology and entrepreneurship show, I am sure you will enjoy it, you are welcome.

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver was created by HBO, the show has 22 episodes so far. It is developed and presented by John Oliver.

It is a satire program, something like The Colbert Report and The Daily show, where actually John Oliver used to be a correspondent. It has become a very popular show very fast.

The critics love it, it is not the type of show that you need to start watching from the beginning, just make sure you tune in this week.

Foo Fighter’s Sonic Highway is a documentary created by Dave Grohl, the lead vocalist in the Foo Fighters. The show is going to have 8 episodes, an episode runs for about an hour.

It’s about their latest and eight studio album, it is also their 20th anniversary. It goes without sayint that if you are a fan of Foo Fighters then this rockumentary is made for you.

So far there have been 2 episodes, the finale is scheduled for December 05, 2014.

Olive Kitteridge is directed by Lisa Cholodenko, this drama is a mini-series based on the same named book written by Elizabeth Strout.

This mini-series shows us a story 25 years long, a town in New England seems nice and quite but is actually filled with crime and tragedy. It is all seen and shown from the eyes of Olive, we take a greater look at her relationship with her husband, her son and the pharmacist.

It is a very interesting mini-series that you might enjoy more than you expect.

Dwayne Johnson - imageBallers

Ballers was created by Steve Levinson, the show still hasn’t started airing. The main cast is consisted of Dwayne Johnson, John David Washington, and Omar Benson Miller among others.

It’s a sports series, the lives of football players and their relationships with their families and friends. Dwayne Johnson plays a retired athlete.

Another football series, can’t wait for the show to begin. So be prepared,

David Diaan - imageThe Brink

The Brink was created by Roberto and Kim Benabib. This black comedy has Tim Robbins and Jack Black among others. The executive producers are the Benabib brothers and Jay Roach.

There is a geopolitical crisis and the American government makes one or two mistakes in the attempt to prevent a World War 3.

This is another series that still hasn’t started airing. This new show will premiere on HBO in 2015.

Riz Ahmed - imageCriminal Justice

Criminal Justice is adopted from the British version, it will start airing this year. The main cast includes Jeff Wincott, Riz Ahmed, and Bill Camp among others.

It’s starts as a nightmare, a man wakes up and finds the girl he was partying with last night in bed with him stabbed to death, he gets convicted of murder.

The British version was very well received, hopefully the American adaptation will be even better.

Show Me a Hero is based on the same named book by Lisa Belkin published in 1999. The show was directed by Paul Haggis.

Nick Wasicsko is a mayor that took office in the 1987 during Yonkers’ when federal orders led to bitter battles fueled by fear, racism, politics and murder.

Show Me a Hero is a miniseries that will start airing this year on HBO.

Togetherness was created by the brothers Mark and Jay Duplass, the cast in consisted of Mark Duplass, Amanda Peet, Melanie Lynskey, and Steve Zissis.

It’s the newest sitcom on HBO, two couples end up living together, hence the name.

Very anticipated show, can’t wait for it to start!

Anthony Hopkins - imageWestworld

Westworld was created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, the executive producers apart from the creators are J.J. Abrams, Jerry Weintraub, and Bryan Burk. The main characters are going to be played by Anthony Hopkins, Evan Rachel Wood, and James Marsden among others.

Westworld is a futuristic amusement park, the series is based on the same named movie released in 1973.

You can’t get a better preview than watching the 1973 movie, it’s going to be an interesting series.
