Death Note was created by Tsugumi Ohba, it is a Japanese manga series consisted of 37 episodes. It was on air from 2006 to 2007. When it comes to horror the the Japanese rule.
After an intelligent high school kid finds a book in which whoever’s name is written into it can be killed. We see him going on a killing crusade.
37 episodes that you should really see, it’s a great supernatural series. This may be one of the best manga horror shows!
Twilight Zone

Twilight Zone was created by Rod Serling, the original series was on air from 1959 to 1964, the first revival occurred from 1985 to 1989 and the second from 2002 to 2003. There is also a movie called Twilight Zone: The Movie released in 1983.
It is about ordinary people finding themselves in extraordinary situations, the endings are always very interesting consisted with a twist.
Another great horror TV show, a classic dare I say.
Supernatural

Supernatural is on air from 2005, it started airing on The WB but only for a year, the show was created by Eric Kripke. 10 seasons and 195 episodes so far and hopefully many more to come.
Two brothers follow their father’s footsteps and continue his legacy by tracking down supernatural beings and getting rid of them from the Earth.
Great reception for this show, if you are a fan of fantasy, action, mystery…then this is a show for you.
Hannibal

Hannibal was developed by Bryan Fuller, the characters was based on Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. It’s a fairly new series, started airing last year. Thus far there have been 2 seasons and 26 episodes.
A FBI criminal profiler emphasizes with the killers. It is a great crime drama, not for someone with a light stomach. How good is this show tells you the reviews reception, it has been quite positive.
It is a great time to start watching the series, two season in, you have time to catch up…get to work.
The Walking Dead

Rick Grimes is a police officer who is responsible for a group of survivors after a zombie apocalypse occurred. One of the most popular horror series today.
The reception has been very positive, a lot of great characters and unpredictable moments, as a fan of this genre I am sure you will enjoy the show. This is the best zombie horror TV shows.
Attack on Titan

Attack on Titan is on air since last year, the Japanese have done it again. A great dark fantasy anime.
2000 years from today the Earth and the humans are in big trouble, the titans have arrived, they are several stories tall and as it seems with no intelligence. They kill the remainder of the humans only for pleasure.
25 episodes so far, if you are a fan of dark fantasy anime then this one was made for you.
Berserk

Berserk was written by Yasuhiro Imagawa and directed by Naohito Takahashi. The series has 25 episodes, it was on air from 1997 to 1998.
Meet Guts, a skilled swordsman, he joins a mercenary group called “The Band of the Hawk”. They are led by Griffith and fight their way into the royal court.
It is another great anime, highly rated and appreciated. Enjoy the show.
The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes

As a big fan of mystery and particularly Sherlock Holmes I really enjoyed the show and so will you!
Fullmetal Alchemist

The Elric brother’s are in a bad situation after their mother dies, their father has abandoned the long time ago. In order to reincarnate their mother they lose their bodies. Things keep going from bad to worse until they get in a position where they have to decide the value of life.
Another great anime, a lot of drama and adventure, hope you’ll like it.
Jam

Jam was created by Chris Morris, the show was on air for only a month and had 6 episodes. The creator of the show also starred in it alongside Mark Heap and Kevin Eldon among others.
Surreal bleak comedy sketches that you will certainly enjoy. The dark comedy is strong with this one, not very popular but definitely quality.
The show received mixed reactions, watch the six episodes.
American Horror Story

An anthology series that has different characters in each episode and different venues as-well, from haunted houses, witch coven to insane asylum and so forth.
What a great show this is, you will definitely enjoy this one as a fan of horror series. Make sure you watch it!
Spawn

Spawn tries to find his killer, a man who is in charge of a secret agency in which Spawn himself worked in. Great horror and superhero series.
If you like superhero’s and horror stories then this one will intrigue you. There are three movie adaptations as-well.
Paranoia Agent

As it seems unconnected citizens in Tokyo get attacked by a boy with a golden baseball bat. The funny thing that the police stumbles upon is the fact that their lives seemed to improve after the assaults.
Another anime from Japan and another success. Great psychological horror story, you will enjoy it.
Hellsing Ultimate

SS-Major seeks to start an eternal war with his vampire army but is confronted by vampire Alucard. I said it once and I’ll say it again, kudos to the Japanese for all these anime horror’s that we get to enjoy.
Great show with a lot of positive review, another one for you anime lovers.
The League of Gentlemen

The League of Gentlemen was on air for three years, from 1999 to 2002. The British are really good when it comes to black comedy, 19 episodes of this extraordinary series.
It’s basically about all these weird and unexpected people, from the transsexual taxi driver to fiery reverend to xenophobic couples and few more that will make you laugh.
The show received few awards and lots of praise.
The Originals

The Originals was created by Julie Plec, the show started airing last year, thus for there have been 22 episodes. It is a great fantasy drama.
A Vampire Diaries based series, the original vampire family settles down in New Orleans, the city they helped build. One of my favorites on the list, a great show with a lot of drama and scary moments.
Only one season so far, hopefully many more to come, an ideal moment to start watching the show.
Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace

Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace was created by both Richard Ayoade and Matthew Holness. The series was on air for less than 2 months in 2004. It has only 6 episodes.
The parody series is set in the 80s, it takes place in a hospital and is filled with bad dialog and hilarous violence. Not the most popular show in this list but it did draw an audience.
Only six episodes, you don’t have much to lose if you give it a try.

14 year-old Yusuke Urameshi dies trying to save a child from the oncoming traffic. The spirit world is so surprised by his sacrifice because of his bad personality that he gets a chance to get back to life.
It’s a very popular anime that you should watch, I hope you’ll enjoy it.
The Outer Limits

A modern revival of the great show from the sixties, an anthology series with twisted endings. Science fiction and Horror make for a good show.
If you watched the original show then you will and I am absolutely sure love this one as-well, if you haven’t seen either then I recommend the series.
American Gothic

American Gothic was on air for a year and that dissapointed a lot of people. This great show was created by Shaun Cassidy, it has 22 episodes and is a great supernatural drama and horror.
American Gothis takes place in South Carolina, in a small town where everyone is not as they seem, a lot of secrets and manipulation makes this a great series.
Another great show that had a great reception from the fans, hopefully the will gain another fan in you.
Ugly Americans

Ugly Americans was created by Devin Clark, it was on air for two years, from 2010 to 2012. There are 31 episodes and 2 seasons of this very interesting sitcom.
New York City with ugly beasts, science fiction freaks and fantasy faerie and you get Ugly Americans. It was a very difficult decision whether I should put this series on this list but I think I made the right choice.
Great series with a lot of black humor, I’m sure you will like it.
Darker Than Black

Psychics came to Tokyo with an impenetrable gate called “Hell’s Gate”. The psychics use their paranormal powers at the cost of their conscience.
So many anime series and all of them Japanese, another great one and another you should not miss out on.
When They Cry

When They Cry is a psychological horror created by Chiaki Kon, it aired on Chiba TV in 2006 for a few months. There are 26 episodes of this supernatural mystery.
Hinamizawa is a strange town, people disappear and are murdered, many believe that it is part of a curse but some disagree and blame people who tend to have an odd behavior.
The series had a great reception and is one of the more popular anime series.
Unsolved Mysteries

The first reality show on the list, such a fantastic show, a lot of real mysterious cases filled with great interviews. Make sure to watch this reality, one of my all-time favorites.
A great combination of mystery and horror makes this a memorable series.
Penny Dreadful

Penny Dreadful was created and written by John Logan, so far it has only 8 episodes, it’s the newest TV show on the list, it started airing this year.
The setting takes place in Victorian London, Sir Malcolm Murray, an explorer, American gun-slider Ethan Chandler and others unite to battle supernatural evil.
It is a show that promises a lot, thus far the reception has been positive.
