It’s about public town’s officials trying to make their city a better place to live in. It is most similar to the Office. Both were created by Greg Daniels.
I would mostly recommend it to you if you like the Office but nevertheless, you will find similarities with the Modern Family. They are both sitcoms and use similar humor.
Two and a Half Men

Two and a Half Men is a 11 year old TV Show, it is very popular or at-least it used to be, few changes in the cast made a dip in its popularity. Charlie Sheen has been replaced by Ashton Kutcher in 2011 and many have criticized the show since, the other two main characters remained the same with Jon Cryer (Dr. Alan Harper) and Angus T. Jones (Jake Harper).
There will be a 12th season and just like the previous item on our list, unfortunately it’s going to be the last one. The similarities with the Modern Family mostly are because of the key word, “family”.
30 Rock

138 episodes throughout 7 seasons is what awaits you, it received acclaim from critics but in spite of that they failed to attract viewers. It is a show worth your time, a very well written comedy.
If you are a fan of the Modern Family you will surely have sympathies for this TV Show as-well.
New Girl

New Girl started airing in 2011; the 4th season is due to start in September this year. A bad break-up forces a young woman to move in with 4 men, they find her behavior from time to time weird but all the same they try their best to support her.
Zooey Deschanel does a great job in this very original TV Show. It is a very good combination of comedy and drama. The characters are in their thirties and try to deal with their maturing relationship and career choices.
A very popular sitcom that you will definitely enjoy.
Suburgatory

Suburgatory is a TV Show that aired from 2011 to 2014. The tittle was merged from the words “suburbarn” and “purgatory”. The stars of the show are Jeremy Sisto, Jane Levy and Ana Gasteyer.
It’s about a teenage girl who moved from the city to the suburbs, ABC canceled the show in May this year, it has been suggested that the show will be transferred to another network.
You will find a lot of similarities with the Modern Family, the humor and the relationships with the neighbors.

How I Met your Mother

Ted is in pursuit for the love of his love, he gets a lot of help from his best friends, the writing and acting is simply legen…wait for it…dary! The last episode may have been disappointing for a lot of HIMYM fans but it was an incredible journey in spite of that.
If I had to pick one TV Show that mostly resembles How I Met Your Mother then I would have to say Friends.

Al Bundy is a miserable man, he hates his life, starting from his job (shoe salesman), his wife is lazy and taking that into consideration his comebacks and sarcasm is extremely funny.
The similarity with the Modern Family is mostly because of the “family” effect. A great show with a unique character.

You will find a lot of similarities in the humor with the Modern Family. There will also be an movie, its in the early stages of development.
